The Mesotest® II is an instrument for testing mesopic vision and glare sensitivity.
This testing is an important supplement to photopic vision testing, especially for assessment of night driving ability and for occupational capability examinations.
Pre- and post-operative testing of the mesopic vision and glare sensitivity of patients with intraocular lenses, or those who have undergone refractive surgery, is recommended, as well as for prescription of tinted lenses.
The Mesotest® II is a standardized unit approved by the DOG (German Ophthalmological Society) for testing mesopic vision and glare sensitivity as required by driver’s license issuance regulations and it meets the requirements of Part 7 of DIN 58220 Standard.
Testing is done with a Landolt ring for visual acuity level 0.1. The Landolt ring can be presented in six different positions. Four contrast levels without glare (ambient luminance 0.032 cd/m²) and four contrast levels with glare (ambient luminance 0.10 cd/m²) are tested.
Tests are conducted under normal visual conditions, without device accommodation.
The unit is dimensioned so that the results are not affected by different pupillary distances of the patients.
The test sequence is programmed thus guaranteeing reliable operation.
As the unit has an enclosed viewer, measurement is possible even in brightly lit rooms.
The compact unit weights a mere 7.8 kg and is easy to transport in its transport case.
The unit can be controlled with a manual control unit or a PC or laptop. Control of the Mesotest® II via a PC or laptop enables the patient data and examination results to be printed and stored for data management purposes.
